Child Group Therapy
Child Group Therapy allows children to interact with peers in a comfortable environment and communicate through play. This form of play therapy is child-centered and geared to help the children learn more about themselves and their relationships with the world around them. By watching children play with other children, therapists are able to identify behavioral patterns and gain more insight into the child’s perspective in terms of their thoughts, feelings, motivations, and struggles better than only having the child sit and talk. Play therapy groups allow children to express emotions and demonstrate problems that would be too difficult to discuss with another person. Through play therapy, children learn to communicate with others, express feelings, modify behavior, develop problem-solving skills, and learn effective coping strategies as it relates to better interactions with others.
